As part ITN Mark Education’s candidate care programme, seminars offering Continual Professional Development are regularly held across the company’s network of offices. Most recently ITN Mark hosted a secondary to primary conversion seminar at their West London office. Presented by Peter O’Brien, an educationalist and former Head Teacher, the session covered a variety of essential information, including how to plan, structure and deliver a typical lesson and link topics across the curriculum, how to ‘pitch’ lessons and ensure relevant questioning, pace and teacher talk during the lesson, Assessment For Learning in the primary classroom and ‘reflective’ teaching, how to use secondary specialisms in a primary setting, how to engage young children and manage their behaviour, as well as the pastoral role of a primary teacher.
The seminar was a huge success and proved to be really popular with a large amount of candidates attending. Diana Frimmova, a Secondary Cover Supervisor who has been working with ITN Mark on a supply basis said ‘I really enjoyed the seminar, the presenter was a pleasure to listen to, very enthusiastic, optimistic and helpful, Peter O’Brien provided excellent insight and knowledge. Thank you!’
