Alderwood - National Supply Teacher Week 2014

Alderwood are excited and proud to be supporting National Supply Teachers Week this year. We understand and appreciate the hard work and passion that our supply teachers and support staff show every day and feel this is a great opportunity to give them the praise and recognition that they deserve.

We have committed to helping achieve the following aims:

·         To show appreciation for those working as supply teachers we will be holding Teacher Excellence Awards, whereby we will be encouraging our schools to nominate their most hardworking supply teacher. We will be awarding a winner each from Secondary, Primary and School Support.

·         To help combat the recurring feeling amongst supply teachers of isolation as always, we will be reiterating to our current staff that they are not alone! They are always welcome to pop into the office for a cup of coffee and to talk through any concerns or issues that they may have. We actively encourage our teachers to keep in regular contact and hold regular events to enable them to meet other ‘suppliers’ and have an active social media community through our blog and twitter. We understand that one of the main challenges supply staff face is to never feel part of a team and this is something we are constantly aiming to eradicate.

·         To provide information for those considering supply teaching as a career move we are always here to offer advice and guidance to those that are unsure about supply. WE understand that moving into supply teaching can be a scary step and encourage those considering the move to come in and meet us for a relaxed chat, we often hold open days where prospective candidates can walk in without an appointment and speak to a member of the team. Once you have become a supply teacher with Alderwood we support you every step of the way and offer free CPD training to keep you up-to-date.

Provide Education - National Supply Teacher Week 2014

Provide Education are extremely excited proud and excited to support National Supply Teachers Week this year.  Provide Education have expanded on an annual basis and we are proud to be Preferred Supplier to a large number of LEA schools and academies in the Yorkshire and The East Midlands Area.

Supply Teachers play such an important part in the success of a child's education and we feel its important for us to ensure the supply teachers are treated with the respect they deserve.

During National Supply Teachers Week Provide Education are going to do the following to show our appreciation to our amazing team of Supply Teachers.

To help combat the recurring feeling amongst supply teachers of isolation

·         We will be inviting all our existing supply teachers to come and visit us in any of our offices during National Supply Teachers Week  for a cuppa, a cake and a chat.  This will enable teachers to meet each other which will help combat the recurring feeling amongst supply teachers of isolation. All year round we operate an open door policy to all supply teachers which enables us to offer ongoing support to all our staff during any potential challenging times.

To show appreciation for those working as supply teachers

·         We will be asking schools for nominations from all schools across all branches and asking them to nominate any teachers they feel are worthy of an award. We regularly feedback to all our teachers and offer teacher of the month awards in addition to an overall teacher of the year. This will help us show our appreciation to the teachers and the appreciation on behalf of the schools. Those teachers that do go above and beyond should be recognised for their excellent commitment for the education of children.

To increase awareness of the skills needed to be a supply teacher

 ·         During the period in and around National Teachers Week we recruit a high number of NQT’s keen to increase their experience of teaching once they have finished their final placements. We offer the ongoing support required to all NQT’s who are experiencing paid teaching for the very first time in a supply capacity. We discuss the skills required to be successful as a supply teacher and offer specific guidance in particular teaching environments.
