The Academics South Yorkshire Team are proud to be supporting National Supply Teacher Week 2014.
Our Branch Manager, Graham, worked as a Supply Teacher for 7 years so he is more than aware of the challenges that our Supply Staff face on a daily basis. As a result of this knowledge and experience we provide a very supportive service to everyone who registers with us. We don’t simply register a new Supply Teacher and then lose contact with them when they start working for us. Instead, we have an open door policy and feel that it is important to offer ongoing help, guidance and training to ensure that all of our Supply Staff feel valued and supported throughout their time spent working for Academics.
Recognising the success and achievement of our Supply Staff is also very important to us and every month we reward one of our fantastic Supply Teachers with an Academics Achievement Award. When a Supply Teacher wins an “AAA” we invite them into our office, share some of the positive feedback that we have received from our local schools and then we treat them to something special. So far this Academic Year our Supply Staff have won bouquets of flowers, family tickets for Ice Sheffield, High Street Shopping Vouchers and even a romantic meal for two at a local restaurant. We also regularly celebrate the achievements of all our Supply Staff on our official Facebook and Twitter pages ... there are so many positive stories out there and we feel it’s important to share these with as many people as possible!
During National Supply Teacher Week 2014 we have teamed up with lots of the local Primary and Secondary Schools that we work closely with to arrange a number of “surprise visits” to present our Supply Teachers with some of the fabulous NSTW Appreciation Certificates. Also, on Thursday 19th June we have invited all of our Supply Staff to join us for a few drinks and snacks in the evening for our “National Supply Teacher Week Celebration Party”. We will also be presenting our Academics Achievement Award for June 2014 at the event ... so one of our hardworking Supply Teachers is in for a lovely surprise too!
Finally, in the last week of the Summer Term we will be announcing our exciting Summer CPD Programme ... a series of training courses, workshops and events that all of our Supply Staff will be able to access completely free of charge. We have joined forces with local education professionals, training providers and schools to deliver this training and our Supply Staff will be able to choose from a range of CPD opportunities including; Child Protection Training, Paediatric First Aid, Team-Teach, Makaton, Baby Signing, Autism Awareness, Behaviour Management, Creativity Within Early Years and Delivering MFL within the Primary Curriculum.
We hope that everyone enjoys the events that we have organised for National Supply Teacher Week in South Yorkshire and that Supply Teachers across the UK continue to enjoy their work and more importantly get the respect and recognition they deserve for stepping into the unknown and making a difference each and every day.
