Alderwood are excited and proud to be supporting National Supply Teachers Week this year. We understand and appreciate the hard work and passion that our supply teachers and support staff show every day and feel this is a great opportunity to give them the praise and recognition that they deserve.
We have committed to helping achieve the following aims:
· To show appreciation for those working as supply teachers we will be holding Teacher Excellence Awards, whereby we will be encouraging our schools to nominate their most hardworking supply teacher. We will be awarding a winner each from Secondary, Primary and School Support.
· To help combat the recurring feeling amongst supply teachers of isolation as always, we will be reiterating to our current staff that they are not alone! They are always welcome to pop into the office for a cup of coffee and to talk through any concerns or issues that they may have. We actively encourage our teachers to keep in regular contact and hold regular events to enable them to meet other ‘suppliers’ and have an active social media community through our blog and twitter. We understand that one of the main challenges supply staff face is to never feel part of a team and this is something we are constantly aiming to eradicate.
· To provide information for those considering supply teaching as a career move we are always here to offer advice and guidance to those that are unsure about supply. WE understand that moving into supply teaching can be a scary step and encourage those considering the move to come in and meet us for a relaxed chat, we often hold open days where prospective candidates can walk in without an appointment and speak to a member of the team. Once you have become a supply teacher with Alderwood we support you every step of the way and offer free CPD training to keep you up-to-date.
