Each year in the Supply Teacher Network we like to have a little fun on the run up to Christmas... Here's a review of what we did in 2016, alongside our STN Countdown to Christmas Giveaway supported by the NSTs (non-supply teacher members):
Secret Santa - the mighty Amy organised this for us for the third year running. A massive thanks once again Amy, it is no mean feat to organise such a thing, there is a lot more work behind the scenes than anyone would realise. Often a little heartache too, along with the frustration! We are proud to say though, that despite money being tight for *everyone* as ever this year, 59 members joined in! I, for one, found it incredibly exciting to be choosing and putting together the gift for my recipient, and it was so nice to see appreciative photos online before, on and after Christmas Day. Such thoughtful gifts they all were, at what is for most people the busiest and most financially desperate time of the year. It was a clear demonstration of the real community spirit we have within the group I believe and I look forward to 2017's with anticipation!
Advent Calendar - my favourite! Each willing member is allocated a date in the run up to Christmas. Often there is more than one person per date, which is just lovely. On their given date members share a thought for the day, or a family tradition, or their favourite in-school Christmas activity. They also share with us their favourite festive song or film clip. I get to sit and listen to all the old classic songs, am reminded of some long-forgotten ones, and introduced to new (often bizarre!) seasonal tunes too!
